Join Aleesah Darlison, internationally published, award-winning author for an eye-opening and inspirational introduction to writing for children. Aleesah has published almost forty books and has also had numerous short stories and articles published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies. Emulate Aleesah’s success by learning about the children’s publishing industry, who the major players are, the formats and word lengths for various age groups and genres, how to structure submissions and who to send your work to. This is an informative and practical workshop where you’ll receive invaluable information and advice.
This workshop runs for 2.5 hours. Ticket price includes afternoon tea. Lunch will be available for purchase before the workshop begins.
Aleesah Darlison is an internationally published, award-winning author who writes picture books, chapter books and novels. In seven short years, she has released nearly forty titles. Aleesah’s much-loved stories promote courage, understanding, anti-bullying, self-belief, friendship, teamwork and environmental themes. In 2015, Aleesah won the Environment Award for Children’s Literature (Non-Fiction) for her picture book, Our Class Tiger. In 2012, she was shortlisted for the same award for her picture book, Warambi, which was also a CBCA Notable Book. Aleesah has won numerous other awards for her writing including an Australian Society of Authors (ASA) mentorship.
